The Powerful & Weak Jesus
June 29, 2012 • Mark 4:35-41
Comic book hero Superman was vulnerable to kryptonite. President Franklin Roosevelt, who rescued the USA from the Great Depression, spent a great deal of his life on crutches or in a wheelchair. Jesus displayed mighty acts of power in his ministry, but accepted the frailty of the human condition. We are quick to identity Jesus with power, strength, and might. However, we struggle in wrapping our heads around the idea that Jesus was weak and vulnerable. Today on Groundwork, we take a look at the Jesus we don’t know, who lived with the tension of embracing weakness and power at the same time.
