Chasing the Wind: Knowledge

January 11, 2013   •   Ecclesiastes 1:12-18

Qoheleth (“the Preacher”) is the title chosen for himself by the writer of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament. Traditionally he is thought to have been King Solomon, who shares more of his proverbial wisdom in this rather dark book. The Preacher's characteristic refrain is “Vanity, vanity, all is vanity, and a chasing after the wind.” It's a critique of so much of what passes for real life in this world, “under the sun.” But if we pay attention to what the Preacher says, we'll catch a hint of true wisdom, and be pointed toward a more meaningful way to live. Join the conversation on to find out more why the Preacher says knowledge is chasing after the wind.
