Blood, Sacrifices, and Forgiveness

Christians have many rituals and traditions, but offering sacrifices is no longer one of them. In the book of Leviticus, God provided Israel with a holiness code and sacrificial system that addressed the sin they, as unholy people, would inevitably commit and removed the guilt they would inevitably bear. Though we no longer need to offer ritual sacrifices, studying the sacrificial system in Leviticus helps us understand more fully our need for Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and deepens our gratitude for the unimpeded relationship we can have with our God, who lives in our midst, today.
