The Seven Deadly Sins are actually seven deadly attitudes—pride, envy, anger, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust—that underpin almost every sin. Studying this list can teach us wisdom both to hear the Holy Spirit and to recognize our own sin. It enables us to follow the Spirit to produce life-giving attitudes, the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
